In March 16th's devotion, he says that we must not allow ourselves to be mere logs, unwilling to do anything for Christ. The gospel is too important for our fears to keep us from sharing Christ. BUT, if you wait until you feel like sharing Christ with others, you never will share the gospel with people. Fear grips us. Satan accuses us. And other priorities block us from ever telling people about Jesus.
I appreciate then the fact that Jack Miller starts first with prayer. Unless we are praying to the Lord for ourselves as God's hands and feet and mouth and for the person who needs to hear the good news of the gospel, too many factors get in the way from keeping us from gospel proclamation. We must pray that the Lord would begin the work of opening hearts and providing opportunities.
Second, we must do it. We must actually act upon our convictions, not our desires. Again, most people do not feel up to talking about Jesus. There are far too many excuses not to do it. Instead, we tell people about the Lord because we know this is what people need most in their lives. It is never about our hearts feeling suddenly willing to talk about Jesus. That time might never come. Our actions precede our desires because of our ultimate desire, which is to follow Jesus and make Him known.
Only when we are fully committed to Christ and His gospel will we ever be able to overcome the fear of proclaiming Christ. If you wait until you are ready and willing, you'll be waiting forever. And for your friend/neighbor/family member, by the time you feel ready, it just might be too late.
