And then we move on to our devotional...
Relatively simple, but always worthwhile.
I thought I'd share what we have done in the past for family worship since I often get questions about family devotions. We usually begin with music, from worship songs with guitar to playing the piano and singing with hymns. Regarding the actually devotions, I have shared directly from Scripture, used quite a few different devotionals, or simply went straight into prayer. But of late, we've been pretty consistent in doing things a different way. It's certainly not the best way or the only way, just a way. Recently, we have been watching and singing worship songs through YouTube. Ok, I am sure some of you think this is really soppy. But really, for those who don't play instruments but still want to sing, YouTube is a great way to sing some songs together in family worship. Even though I play the guitar and my wife plays the piano, sometimes it's just easier to turn on the TV and play YouTube songs with lyrics. We use Chromecast to do it as it's relatively cheap and easy to use as long as you have wifi. And then I'll find some lyrics songs and we all sit on the couch and sing along. And then we move on to our devotional... I have been using the classic, Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon. Yes, the language is dated, but the insights are unbeatable. I have tried so many others and yet, I always seem to go back to Mr. Spurgeon. He never leaves me wanting by always leaving me wanting Jesus. Sometimes, I need to interpret what he is saying to the kids, but even in the interpretation, there is value. They eventually come to understand with their big, "Ahhh!" And then we move into family prayer. We think of all of the different people in our lives who need prayer, including ourselves, and we have a few pray over each of the topics, with either me or my wife closing us in prayer.
Relatively simple, but always worthwhile.

Margaret, it's not long at all, I would say max 20-30 minutes. But these are with older kids. When our kids were younger, it would be about 10 minutes max.
